Timeless God
"Very truly I tell you," Jesus answered, "before Abraham was born, I am!". John 8: 58, NIV.
The Son of God, talks here about the two incomparable entities of this universe - the Creation, depicted by Abraham, and the Creator, depicted by Himself. He did not say "before Abraham was born, I was"; but said "I am"; and by saying so, He is commanding His eternal presence. That's His name 'I am', as He had already mentioned to Moses. He has no time limits. No time can ever bind the Lord in any manner because He Himself is the Alpha and the Omega.
A Japanese man recently claimed that he is over 150 years old and that for a human is long. Jerusalem in 1995 celebrated it's 3000th year and that for a city is long. There is a bristlecone pine aged over 4800 years old and that for a tree is long! But our God, surpasses all these confines by an infinite number.
"Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God". Psalms 90:2, NIV.
Aren't you glad today that our Saviour has existed from forever long ago, and will continue to exist in all eternity? That exactly is the reason why His love endures forever. And because He loves us, the great El Olam liberated us from time as well. Dear reader, do you think you are bound by time? Perhaps in this materialistic world you are. Perhaps there is an expiry date for this physical body. But beyond that - we have an everlasting life waiting. The One who chose you and me before we were born, has given us a hope eternal.
We who were poor have been made rich because the rich God was made poor for us; we who were unworthy have been made worthy because the worthy Lamb of God was sacrificed on the cross; and in the same manner, we who were bound by time, have been made timeless because the timeless God sent forth His only begotten Son into this time-bound world. Enjoy your timelessness today.
Now I've a hope that will surely endure after the passing of time;- John W. Peterson © 1961
I have a future in heaven for sure there in those mansions sublime.
And it's because of that wonderful day, when at the cross I believed;
Riches eternal and blessings supernal, from His precious hand I received.
