Light of the World
In the beginning was the Word, which is God, which is life, which is light, says John chapter 1.
Word = God = Life = Light
Our God exists in an unapproachable light (1 Timothy 6: 16), He Himself is the Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all (1 John 1: 5). This is God.
We live in darkness, and loved darkness rather than light (John 3: 19). We ourselves WERE darkness (Ephesians 5: 8). This is us.
The Light, which is the Lord Jesus Christ, came into the world, so that He can save humanity from the darkness which they ever so love, and call them into the marvelous light (1 Peter 2: 9). But to do that, He did something out of His character. Not only did the Lord who is the Light come into this dark world, but He also hung on the cross in utter darkness, for 3 hours (Luke 23: 44). The Light in whom there is no darkness at all, spent hours in darkness only so that we who were in darkness can become the light. And, we worship Him today because He succeeded!
We are now Children of Light! Walk accordingly. No more sinning around and hiding in darkness. No more evil deeds that shame us and because of which we hide from the Light into the darkness. Walk, as Children of Light.
Are you shining today?
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
I John 1:5 This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.
John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
