Four things Christ proved with His Resurrection
Do this in remembrance of me, He said. We do it too, we remember His death every time we worship Him. But how often have you praised God for His resurrection? The resurrection of Christ is as important as His death. It is beyond natural for a man to die and be raised from the dead. But He did it, He is risen.
Matthew 28:5 But the angel answered and said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. 6 He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
By rising up from the dead, He in fact proved 4 things:
1. Proves the Scriptures
The rising up of the Lord on the third day is something predicted or prophesied in the old testaments, and mentioned specifically by Jesus Himself on several occasions. By resurrecting, He proved that the scriptures have been right all along!
Matthew 16:21 From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.
Matthew 12:40 For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
2. Proves that He is the Son of God
An exclusive right, and a command is bestowed upon the Son of God by the Father, to lay down His life, as well as to take it back again. By humbling Himself to the cross, and being risen again on the third day, our Lord Jesus Christ proves that He is in fact the one true Son of God.
John 10:18 No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father."
3. Proves that there is a future Resurrection
Since Christ rose from the dead, He actually became the first fruits of those who have died. He was the first of many. If we believe that Christ died and rose again, then we can rest assured that God will rise us up to Him, when He is coming.
I Corinthians 15:20 But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.
I Thessalonians 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.
4. Proves that there is a future Judgement
God has appointed a day in which the world will be judged righteously, through His Son. Since His Son is now risen from the dead, the judgement day is all the more real now. Had He not risen again, the ordained Man who is appointed to judge the world would have been missing. Having been risen and glorified, Christ will exercise his right and ordinance to judge the world righteously.
The Acts 17:31 because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead."
In Conclusion, Jesus says:
John 11:25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26 And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?"
